Course Description

Biology is a core class for students who have passed Algebra I (primarliy sophomores). The students receive an introduction to science and the study of life. This course covers the scientific process, ecology, cells, genetics, evolution and (ideally) physiology. (We often run out of time and cannot cover physiology, or we have to cover it very superficially.) Students write several formal lab reports throughout the year. During the fall semester, each student writes an independent research paper and creates a presentation that explains their research topic to the school community at an evening exhibition.
